Thu, 03/07/2019 - 01:57
The first VinFast Lux SA2.0 car rolled off the assembly line, marking a successful trial production for “made-in-Vietnam” commercial automobiles on March 6 in Hai Phong. This is also the last stage to confirm that VinFast has completed the installation process and is ready to go into production after 18 months of joining the automotive industry.
The newly finished Lux SA2.0 has a beautiful appearance as in its design and powerful performance.
It is equipped with a DOHC 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, with a maximum capacity of 228 horsepower, and maximum torque of 350 Nm. The gearbox on the car is a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, a full-time two-wheel drive system with top safety features such as vented front disc brakes, solid rear disc brakes, ABS, EBD and BA systems, electronic stability control (ESC) system, TCS, HSA, ROM, parking assist sensors, etc.
The successful trial production of the first Lux SA2.0 is an important turning point, affirming that VinFast has basically completed the factory setup and been ready for the test run before moving into mass production.
Moreover, the car was manufactured in a full 6-stage process in stamping, body welding, painting, engine, auxiliary component installation, and assembly workshops, which makes VinFast the first automobile manufacturer in Vietnam to have a closed, synchronous, and complete production cycle.
This is also the most modern automotive production cycle in the world, in which the most prominent stage is the engine manufacturing and assembly line. It is capable of automatically manufacturing the engine body and cover, plating the cylinder bore, heat treating, and crankshaft machining. During the assembly process, the engine undergoes mechanical operations, heating and cooling, and start tests, as well as the review of operational specifications of the actual vehicle. With this modern engine workshop, VinFast not only ensures its proactivity in production but also significantly increases the localization rate, promoting the development of Vietnam's supporting industry.
Another outstanding item in VinFast’s closed production cycle is the paint workshop with its modern machinery and equipment, employing 4.0 automation technologies from Durr Group (Germany). All painting stages, from surface treatment, underbody sealant spraying, primer spraying, to coating, are operated automatically with 79 automatic spraying robots, ensuring the absolute accuracy for the paint of the car”.
Besides, modern stamping and welding workshops are fully automated with 1,200 robots. Especially, VinFast is now the first automobile manufacturer in Vietnam to be able to stamp and weld large plates (more than 20 basic plates for each vehicle) in its own plant with quality meeting international standards.
The entire cycle is connected via automatic conveyor belts and managed by Siemens’ smart manufacturing management system MES. The test equipment is of high modernity and accuracy and is able to check the whole-body shell specifications and make real-time quality assessments to alert the operator, ensuring the highest quality of VinFast products.
At the welcoming event of the first finished Lux SA2.0, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup and Chairwoman of VinFast, said: “With the completion of the first Lux SA2.0 SUV, VinFast has confirmed that all stages in its production process at the factory are basically put into operation and ready for the trial production before moving into mass production. We are on the right track and always determined to create premium products, bringing the Vietnamese spirit and brand to the international level, and joining hands with domestic enterprises to promote the industrial sector in general and automobile production in particular”.
The first cars from the trial production phase will be transferred to various countries such as Austria, Australia, Korea, etc. for quality testing to ensure that VinFast's vehicles conform to the high standards of Europe. The testing process will also be conducted simultaneously by VinFast in Vietnam to make sure that its products meet the safety and quality requirements as well as respond well to different operating and climate conditions.
It is expected that the first VinFast Fadil and VinFast Lux cars will be respectively handed over to customers in the second and third quarter of this year./.
